Us as people need to know that jokes are funny to a citrate extent. I experienced this one day when I was exploring the grocery store with my grandmother. We walked through the dairy, meat and fruit sections. Once we were about to check out, my grandmother forgot to get a bag of beans so I had to wait in line to save our spot. While my grandmother was getting the beans I overheard an older man say a slight joke about a Mexican lady that passed my grandmother. He stated “why doesn’t she get her bag of beans and get out of the way?” To be honest I knew that was rude but that didn’t change my attitude towards that man. Although once my grandmother returned she heard him loud and clear.
1 This woman got super-heated and stood up for
her Hispanic rights. The situation I was in you wouldn’t believe; I had to hold
this woman’s earrings for god’s sake. But lesson that I learned made me
realized that Stereotype is different from racism. Stereotype is judging
someone you haven’t got the time to know them. Racism is making fun of
someone’s culture to please their childish laughter. My grandma set those guys
straight and made me want to have pride and authority like that. So next time
you time about approaching someone with a joke; make sure it isn’t racist
enough to put you in an awarded position.
I like the personal example as well as the pictures and few links. Have you ever encountered anyone that acted racist towards you? Here's a link to a video of 3 white girls venting their ignorant opinions about the AZ law that was passed for the "illegals" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR4hqKzlgWA&oref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DBR4hqKzlgWA&has_verified=1
