In first verse he starts out by stating "he knows that his rent is due and his landlord keeps reminding him like if he didn't know." Thats basically responsibilities that he accomplish. Another thing he brings up is his grandmother that is recently still ill and almost close to death. his brother was send to jail and his mother is still addicted to crack. Cole involves his family issues to reach out to our community's to let us know that he goes through similar challenges and obstacles in his life as well.
The second verse of problems Jcole talks about racsism. He says "why are you pulling me over, I didn't disobey the law? He asked them clearly is because I'm black and you think I can't afford a black Mercedes?" Cole really wanted other people to see how the police treat African-American rappers that have fame and money differently. This reminded me of the word stereotype. The reason why is because in Jcoles point of spective the police are judging him by his color and addressing him as a broke man. But matter of fact cole graduated from St's John University with a Bachelor degree. His major in business and minor in communication.
At the end Jcole basically just want everyone To know that we all go through problems. No matter how big or small they are we will get through them. Someone else is probably going through something way worse than you are, So be grateful that you are still striding for it.
